Se reunieron el 11 de febrero, comenzaron a componer un nuevo material, este álbum está inspirado en Thin Lizzy, A-ha y Elvis Costello.

En una entrevista para la revista Rolling Stone, Julian Casablancas explicó que el grupo se encuentra atrapado entre el futuro y los setenta, y que la comunicación y honestidad entre ellos ha mejorado mucho.

Se grabo en los estudios Avatar en NYC con Joe Chiccarelli como productor y Gus Oberg como ingeniero. El disco se lanzo a nivel mundial el 22 de marzo del 2011 tambien llevaran a cabo una gira mundial despues del lanzamiento. Su primer sencillo salio al aire el 9 de febrero de 2011 titulado Under Cover of Darkness en su pagina oficial como descarga gratuita solo por 2 dias y el 11 como descarga en itunes Store.

El bajista Nikolai Fraiture reveló que el álbum sería "un retorno a lo básico", lo que sugiere las canciones será de un estilo similar a su primer álbum, Is This It. Rolling Stone elogió Angles, diciendo: "es el mejor álbum desde Is This It ".

En el mismo artículo, Albert Hammond, Jr. explica el título del álbum, diciendo "Es lo que el disco suena. Viene de cinco personas diferentes".
El 5 de octubre de 2010, durante una entrevista con NME Julian dijo que alrededor del 75% del álbum está terminado y que el álbum podría sorprender a mucha gente en el buen sentido.

Es el primer álbum como solista de Syd Barrett después de abandonar Pink Floyd. Producido por Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Malcolm Jones y Peter Jenner, grabado en 1969 y editado en enero de 1970.

Es un disco distinto a lo que cualquier otro artista de la época hubiera hecho: caótico, depresivo, incoherente, psicodélico, brillante, carente de mayores arreglos. Gilmour tuvo la idea de publicar los temas en bruto, por ello en la mayoría de las canciones se escucha tan sólo la voz de Barrett y su Fender Telecaster. Cabe destacar de este trabajo canciones como "Dark Globe", "Here I Go" , "Octopus" (el mejor tema del Lp para muchos), "Golden Hair" (un poema de James Joyce), "Feel" (mezcla de bohemia e incoherencia) o "If It's In You" (con su voz desentonando sobre una melodía que cautiva al oyente). Sus letras exploran distintas atmósferas, consiguiendo en cada canción un mundo.

Es el primer álbum de estudio de la banda británica Pink Floyd, editado en 1967. Este disco está considerado como uno de los primeros en explorar el rock psicodélico, junto con Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band de The Beatles, que fue grabado casi al mismo tiempo. Se le considera uno de los LPs más influyentes de la historia. También aparece frecuentemente entre los mejores y más influyentes discos de toda la historia.

Syd Barrett fue el compositor principal de la mayoría de los temas, pero los aportes de cada integrante de la banda fueron fundamentales. El álbum contiene letras caprichosas, sobre el espacio, espantapájaros, gnomos, bicicletas y cuentos de hadas, acompañadas con secciones de música psicodélica. El título del LP proviene de uno de los capítulos de un libro que Barrett leía de joven: The Wind In The Willows (El viento en los sauces), de Kenneth Grahame, en el que los personajes Rata y Topo se encuentran con el dios Pan, que representa la poderosa fuerza de la naturaleza, y que ayuda a los animales a encontrar una nutria perdida. En este álbum se aprecia el gusto de Barrett por las letras basadas en asociaciones mentales espontáneas, algo así como un viaje psicotrópico.
